Embrace the Messy is a strategy for happiness and personal fulfillment; it is an approach to developing deep skills for leadership, relationships, parenting, skills for living. How you choose to live your life is your choice. Many choose a life of order, planning and control; there are many benefits and rewards. And, at some point, there is turbulence. This might look like a divorce, a job loss, the loss of a loved one, a life-altering medical diagnosis, a struggling child, a less talented colleague being promoted, a pandemic. Our beautifully orchestrated lives are rocked. Sometimes this shows up in small ways. A new boss that you struggle to communicate with results in sleepless nights, tense conversations with the people you care about the most. Sometimes the chaos shows up more significantly in the form of feelings of helplessness and overwhelm.
Letting Go of What We Cannot Control Truth is, we can tell ourselves all day long that we are in control, we can develop spreadsheets, leverage incredible technology and set aside tons of cash for an early retirement. Embracing the Messy incorporates learning to manage what is in our influence of control and learning to accept and work with (not against) the things that are ultimately outside of our control. It is a strategy founded on self-awareness, self-acceptance and unconditional love.
Your leadership journey incorporates the most important relationship you will ever have, the relationship with yourself. This is where it really gets messy. You are complex, imperfect and amazing. And you get in your own way. We all do this; it is part of the human condition.
Self-Awareness. Through coaching, we leverage empathy, curiosity and self-compassion to develop our self-awareness. We learn to observe our actions and the impact they have on ourselves and on others. We examine what beliefs and fears drive us to make decisions. We learn to observe ourselves without judgment.
